Darius Morris

Darius Aaron Morris ( born January 3, 1991 Los Angeles, California, United States ) is an American professional basketball player.

He played in 2013 with the Philadelphia 76ers in the North American professional league NBA. Morris was selected 41st place in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He plays the position of point guards / small forwards.

Career

High School

Darius Morris decided the son of Dewayne Sr. and Robin Morris for the Windward School in Los Angeles, his hometown. Morris was invited to the prestigious All-Star basketball training camps of NBA greats like LeBron James and Steve Nash, but also from the NBA itself, and Nike. He was twice nominated for the first- team All-State first- team California. In addition, he was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of numerous and prestigious tournaments. In addition, he has been on various All- Star Games, including the Academic All - American Classic, invited. Morris led Windward High School to the California Division V State Championship, he scored in the final game 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Darius Morris was named MVP of the Olympic League, CIF Division 5A Southern Section Player of Year and as CIF Division 5A State Player of Year. He received the John Wooden High School Player of the Year Award. In the ESPN National College Player Ranking Morris was placed in 11th.

College

As a freshman of the Michigan Colleges Morris scored in 2009-10, averaging 4.4 points and 2.6 assists per game in 24.3 minutes per game. On 23 December 2010 Morris scored against Bryant University as only one of three Wolverines four three in one game. On 27 December 2010 he was honored as Big Ten Conference player of the week. Morris set a new single - season record Michigan College in the category assists, while he in 35 games scored 235 assists ( see table). Thus, he was also the best Assist donors of the 2011 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. Furthermore, Darius led his team in points, assists and steals per game on. 4 May 2011 declared Morris, despite some speculation, not unsubscribe from NBA Draft 2011 to 8 May 2011.

NBA

2011/12 season ( rookie )

Prior to the 2011 NBA Drafts described ESPN television expert Chad Ford, Morris ( 196 cm) as the largest real point guard in the draft. Darius Morris was born on 23 October 2011, drafted at 41 instead of the Los Angeles Lakers, his hometown at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Lakers so decided against supposedly better available talents like Josh Selby or Isiah Tohmas to pod judge a player from their city. On January 11, 2012, he played his first game for the Lakers in the game against the Utah Jazz was Morris 13 minutes on the court. He was able to record in this game his first four points, two assists and one rebound in itself. Due to an injury to Steve Blake Morris stood for seven games in the rotation of the Lakers. After all the players were healthy again, Morris was no longer needed and hence 7 March 2012 to the Los Angeles D- Fenders in the NBA D -League, assigned playing. He made his debut with 21 points for the D- Fenders on 10 March 2012. Due to constant strong performances Morris was born on March 16, 2012 again appointed to the NBA squad the Lakers.

2012/13 season ( sophomore )

Morris agreed on 2 July 2012 at a new contract. Morris was part of the Lakers team, which until July 22, the Las Vegas NBA Summer League denied of 13. He led the team in points and assists. Due to the injury of Steve Nash and Steve Blake was Darius on 13 November 2012, the first time in the starting lineup the Lakers, where he played until 4 December until Chris Duhon took over his starting place. When Steve Nash returned on December 22 healthy again in the starting lineup, Morris first started in place of Metta World Peace as a small forward, which was part of the concept of coach Mike D' Antonio, allow players to play positions for which they are not predestined.
