Thaddeus Young

Thaddeus Charles Young ( born June 21, 1988 in New Orleans, Louisiana ) is an American professional basketball player. He currently runs on as a small forward for the Philadelphia 76ers. Previously, he attended college Georgia Tech and studied management.

Childhood and high school

Young was born as the son of Lula Hall and Felton Young in New Orleans. As Thaddeus Young was in the fourth grade, the family moved to Tennessee to Memphis. His father played from 1976 to 1978 for the Jacksonville University and was elected in 1978 NBA Draft by the Buffalo Braves.

Young began only in the eighth grade with basketball, but then quickly evolved into one of the top players on the Mitchell High School. He was elected three times to the All-State team, TSSAA Class AA in 2005 Mr. Basketball, 2006 Tennessee Player of the Year and he was elected to the McDonald's High School American team. He also led the team in 2006 in the TSSAA Class AA finals, where they ran against the Liberty Technology Magnet High School.

As a senior Young reached 26.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 4.3 steals and 3.6 blocks per game. He was regarded as an excellent athlete and a good student. He achieved a GPA of 4.3 - the maximum is 5.0. After high school, he was considered one of the most valuable players for the colleges.

College

Young was the youngest player of all freshman in 2006. During his Freshmansaison Thaddeus Young reached 14.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He hit 47.8 % of his field throws and 41.9 % of his three attempts.

He then signed up to the NBA Draft.

NBA

Rookie season

Young was gedrafted in 12th place from the Philadelphia 76ers in 2007. On 11 July 2007 he signed the contract with the Sixers. At the beginning of his rookie season Young played very little. His rookie colleague Jason Smith, however, has been used much more often. In his first game on 7 November 2007, he scored his first points in a 94-63 victory for the 76ers over the Charlotte Bobcats. He finished his debut with 6 points and 3 rebounds.

After the general manager Ed Stefanski was trading Kyle Korver, Young received more minutes and alternated with Reggie Evans from as a starter. About his entire rookie season-long Young scored on average 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Average he was doing 22 minutes per game. Overall, he played 74 games and started 22 times this. His Career at points he scored on March 9, 2008 against the Milwaukee Bucks - he put 22 points on.

Sophomoresaison

Since his stats improved at the end of the rookie season, was expected to continue rising in his Sophomoresaison Statistics. Now with 15.3 points and 5.0 rebounds on average he could meet the expectations. His new Career High of 31 points he put on against the Chicago Bulls on March 13, 2009. He was elected Rookie Challenge in the Sophomoreteam the NBA.

The 76ers also reached the playoffs, where Young scored 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds on average. The Sixers lost however in the first round 4-2 against the eventual finalists, the Orlando Magic.
