David B. Thompson

David Bernard Thompson (* May 29, 1923 in Philadelphia, † November 24, 2013 ) was Bishop of Charleston.

Life

David Bernard Thompson received on 27 May 1950, ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 22 April 1989 Coadjutor Bishop of Charleston. The Apostolic Pro- Nuncio to the United States of America Pio Laghi consecrated him on 24 May of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Norbert Felix Gaughan, Bishop of Gary, and Eugene Antonio Marino SSJ, Archbishop of Atlanta.

On February 22, 1990, he was followed by Ernest Leo Unterköfler as Bishop of Charleston. On 12 July 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
