Norbert Felix Gaughan

Norbert Felix Gaughan (* May 30, 1921 in Pittsburgh, USA, † 1 October 1999) was Bishop of Gary.

Life

Norbert Felix Gaughan received on November 4, 1945, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. On March 10, 1951, he was incardinated into the newly established Diocese of Greensburg.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on April 2, 1975 Titular Bishop of Taraqua and auxiliary bishop in Greensburg. He received his episcopal consecration of the Bishop of Greensburg, William Graham Connare, on June 26th of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Salina, Cyril John Vogel, and Auxiliary Bishop John Bernard McDowell of Pittsburgh.

On July 24, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Gary.

On 1 June 1996 Pope John Paul II accepted his pre- mounted resignation for reasons of age.
