David McCagg

David McCagg is a former American swimmer.

With the World Swimming Championships in 1978 in West Berlin, he won gold in the individual competition at 100 m freestyle, and along with Jack Babashoff, Rowdy Gaines, James Montgomery in the relay 4 x 100 m freestyle and along with Bob Jackson, Nick Nevid and Joe Bottom in the Season 4 x 100m medley. Four years later, at the World Swimming Championships in Guayaquil, he again won gold in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay. Along with Christopher Cavanaugh, Robin Leamy, Ambrose Gaines he put this in a time of 03:19,26 minutes a new world record, an improvement of the, with his participation, established at the World Swimming Championships in 1978 record of 03:19,74 minutes.

At the Pan American Games in 1979 McCagg won gold in the 100m freestyle competitions, 4 x 100 m freestyle and 4 x 100 m medley.
