David Owino

David Owino Odhiambo ( born April 5, 1988 in Nakuru ) is a Kenyan football player. He is a defender Gor Mahia in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL ) and the Kenya national team.

Career

Association

David Owino grew up in Nakuru Flamingo Estate and played in his youth at Youth Olympic and from 2004 at the St. Joseph's Academy. He was inducted into the first team of the AC Nakuru and played there until 2008.

Then Owino moved to Naivasha to Karuturi Sports. After the 2011 he was engaged by Gor Mahia as a replacement for Eric Masika, who joined AFC Leopards. With the championship win in the KPL 2013 he won his first title.

National

His debut in the Kenyan national team gave David Owino on January 15, 2012 with a 0-1 defeat in a friendly against Senegal. Coach Adel Amrouche occupational him to the national team, although he was at the time when Gor Mahia not a regular player. In the same year he reached the finals of the CECAFA Cup in 2012, but was replaced in the first half due to a muscle strain. Kenya lost the Game against Uganda 1:2.

In the game on March 23, 2013 against Nigeria in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, he neutralized the winger Victor Moses so much that he nicknamed Calabar in Kenya - the name of the game location - received.

His first goal for the national team he succeeded on September 8, also during the World Cup qualifiers. He scored in the fifth minute of the 1-0 winning goal against Namibia and Kenya so the only victory in this competition.

In 2013 he was again in the squad for CECAFA Cup in their own country and could win the title with Kenya after eleven years.
