David Preece (footballer born 1963)

David Preece ( born May 28, 1963 in Bridgnorth, England; † July 20, 2007 in Luton, Bedfordshire, England) was an English footballer. He played three times for England B team.

Preece began his career at Walsall FC. His debut, he celebrated the victory against Chester City. In December 1984, he signed a contract with Luton Town and won in his first game against Aston Villa 1-0.

In 1988, he won the League Cup, along with Luton and played a total of 400 games for the first team from Luton.

In September 1996 he moved, without a release to Cambridge United. He played 75 games and was an assistant to Roy McFarland, before joining Torquay United in August 2001. His contract was terminated in 2002 due to the insolvency of the television channel ITV Digital. He moved again, this time to Enfield, but left the club in December 2002, there already again to be manager at Stevenage Borough.

Preece died in July 2007 after a short illness.
