David Rayfiel

David Rayfiel ( born September 9, 1923 in New York City; † June 22, 2011 ) was an American screenwriter.

Life

Rayfiel was a son of Congressman Leo F. Rayfiel ( 1888-1978 ). He attended Brooklyn College and participated as a soldier in Europe inserted in the Second World War. After studying screenwriting at Yale University, he worked for American television, for which he skriptete talk and game shows, but also series episodes for Assignment Foreign Legion or Channing. After an Off- Broadway play, P. S. 193, which came on the scene in 1962, he focused on dramatic TV substances.

1964 began a decades-long collaboration with director Sydney Pollack, with whom he initially at PS 193, then at its debut voice on the phone and eventually in almost all movies, some times named, worked. Also for Bertrand Tavernier wrote the French -speaking Rayfield several times.

For his screenplay for Three Days of the Condor Rayfield received the Edgar Allan Poe Award.

Rayfield was married three times; his second wife was the actress Maureen Stapleton.
