Decet (music)

A Dezett (from Latin decem = " ten " ) is in the music, a group of ten performers or a piece of music for such a group. Unlike smaller ensembles, such as the String Quartet, there are no fixed occupation here. Preferably, however, a double woodwind quintet is especially in the French tradition.

Examples of double woodwind quintet derived from George Enescu ( Dixtuor op 14 for 10 wind instruments ) or Darius Milhaud ( Dixtuor for 10 woodwind). Dating back to the 19th century examples of this occupation are Joachim Raff's Sinfonietta, Op 188 and Salomon Jadassohn Serenade for winds op 104

Examples of mixed ensembles of wind and string instruments are Benjamin Britten's Sinfonietta, Op 1 (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, 2 violins, viola, cello and double bass) or Dixtuor by Jean Françaix in the same combination.

In the field of jazz are occupations of ten musicians, however Tentett (after English " th " = " ten " ) called.
