Dechawat Poomjaeng

Dechawat Poomjaeng ( born July 11, 1978) is a professional Thai snooker player.

Career

Dechawat Poomjaeng had his breakthrough in the international snooker in 2010, when he won both the bronze medal at the Asian Games in 2010 as well as winning the IBSF World Amateur Championship, which he was able to qualify for the Snooker Main Tour.

In his first year on the professional tour, he showed his best performance of Alex Higgins International Trophy in 2011, where he defeated, among others, Stephen Hendry and Stephen Maguire and failed to Ben Woollaston only in the second round. The leap into the second round, he managed again in 2012 with some PTC tournaments. For the final round of a full ranking tournament he failed to qualify for the first time at the German Masters 2013. There he was defeated Barry Hawkins 2:5.

His biggest success as a professional Dechawat Poomjaeng reached at the World Snooker Championship in 2013 when he beat Stephen Maguire in round 1 10:9 and thereby reached the knockout stages, which he lost to Michael White 3:13.

At the Wuxi Classic in 2013, he reached by a 5-1 win over Dominic Dale the Round of 32, however, where he lost to John Higgins 1:5.

For the final round of the Australian Goldfields Open 2013 he could also qualify. His first round match against the defending champion Barry Hawkins he lost 1:5. When qualifying for the German Masters in 2014 he succeeded the 101 maximum break of snooker history.
