Delta Spirit

Delta Spirit is an American band from San Diego. The band is known for their unusual instruments and the ability of its members to play several instruments.

History

Jon Jameson and Brandon Young, who had previously played together in different bands, decided in 2005 to establish, together with her friend Sean Walker a band. Matt Vasquez was added after Yound had seen him in the morning to two as a street musician. Delta Spirit recorded their first EP I Think I've Found It in the home studio of Kelly Winrich, who was friends with Vasquez since he was 18, on. Winrich, the band then closed to within the first year of its existence.

Their first album, Ode to Sunshine, the band One of the songs recorded in a cabin in the mountains near San Diego and published it in the self-published in late 2007. Upon this album was called Trashcan (English trash can ), because such in the recording of the song had served as an instrument. Ode to Sunshine was released on August 26, 2008 with new artwork ( on the cover is Winrichs great-uncle Dr. Thomas Payne to see ) and a new version of the song " Streetwalker " again, this time on the Rounder Records label. The band was repeatedly seen on American television, including 2008 Late Night with Conan O'Brien. In autumn 2009, Walker left the band.

The second album History From Below was released on 8 June 2010. The inspiration for the album title was the historian Howard Zinn. Many of the songs were composed during a tour on hotel rooms using an acoustic guitar in 2009. On 15 November 2010 Delta Spirit played in the show Guitar Center Sessions on DirecTV a live concert and gave the host Nic Harcourt an interview. It was followed by other television appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, Johnny Carson and Jools Holland. The band played 2010 2 tours in the United States and one in Europe. William McLaren in 2011 for a band member. He had previously played in the bands The Willowz and Cults. In April 2011, Delta Spirit played at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.

In summer 2011, the band members rented a rehearsal room in Southern California, the had already used the Cold War Kids, among other things, to work on their third album. The recordings were then in July of the same year in Woodstock instead. The album was produced by Chris Coady and finally published under the name Delta Spirit on March 13, 2012. In August 2012, the band performed at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. Since 2013, the band members live in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.

The music of Delta Spirit has been used in several television series, including the second season of Sons of Anarchy, Grey 's Anatomy, in the soundtrack of The Walking Dead and in the ninth season of American Dad!.
