History of the game

The official history of the game Demon Attack is the fact that the player is with his ship on the ice planet Krybor. Groups of Demon ships besieging the planet and attack the player. The game idea of Demon Attack is simple: The player uses his laser weapons to destroy the groups of the Demons, so that the players themselves have survived. At many points in the game Demon Attack is similar to the usual shooters of the time, yet are some peculiarities of the game that sets it apart from the mass. This includes especially the graphical representation, the time was very progressive for the Atari 2600.

Background

Demon Attack was similar to previously published video game Phoenix. This led to a dispute between Imagic and Atari, who held the rights to the game Phoenix. Atari lost the lawsuit, which meant that the only really successful Demon Attack by Imagic game was. In addition to the version for the Atari 2600 Imagic also produced versions of the game for the Intellivision and the Philips G7000 game console.

The game was programmed so that it ends after the 84 wave of attacks since the programmer Rob Fulop did not think the players would get this far. Two days after the program was launched, a boy was able to overcome all 84 waves of attacks. After the first production series of cartridges was sold, changed Fulop a line of code, so the game did not end, but even after the 84 wave of attacks was difficult.
