Denis Browne (bishop)

Denis George Browne, CNZM ( born September 21, 1937 in Auckland, New Zealand) is Bishop of Hamilton in New Zealand.

Life

Denis George Browne received on 30 June 1962, and was ordained priest incardinated in the Clergy of the Diocese of Auckland.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on March 21, 1977 Bishop of Rarotonga. He received his episcopal consecration of Bishop Auckland, John Hubert Macey Rodgers SM, on 29 June of the same year; Co-consecrators were Reginald John Cardinal Delargey, Archbishop of Wellington, and John Mackey, Bishop of Auckland.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on July 6, 1983, Bishop of Auckland and on 19 December 1994 as Bishop of Hamilton in New Zealand.
