Roman Catholic Diocese of Rarotonga
The Diocese of Rarotonga (Latin: Dioecesis Rarotonganus ) is a location in the Cook Islands Roman Catholic diocese based in Rarotonga.
History
The Diocese of Rarotonga was posted on November 27, 1922 by Pope Pius XI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Tahiti established as Apostolic Prefecture Cook Islands and Manihiki. On August 11, 1926, the Apostolic Cook Islands and Manihiki Prefecture was renamed Prefecture Apostolic of Cook Islands. The Apostolic Prefecture Cook Islands was posted on February 12, 1948 by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Congruum sane Apostolic Vicariate.
The Apostolic Vicariate of Cook Islands was posted on June 21, 1966 by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Prophetarum voces to the diocese raised and renamed Diocese of Rarotonga. It was the Archdiocese of Suva is a suffragan.
