Denklingen is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech, about 50 kilometers south-west of Munich.

Geography

Denklingen, the most southwesterly community in the district of Landsberg am Lech, is located on a gravel terrace to the west of the Lech river at the edge of Denklinger Rotwalds and Sachsenrieder forest.

History

Through the municipal area led the Roman Via Claudia Augusta. Traces of prehistoric settlement there. First mentioned in 1104 as derived "Then success ", probably from the personal name " Denchilo ". The Denklinger and Sachsenrieder forest are certified in 1059 as King donations. In the 13th and 14th centuries, a local needle is detected, the castle said to have been destroyed in the Peasants' Revolt in 1525. The place Denklingen belonged to the Bishopric of Augsburg. Since Reichsdeputationshauptschluss and the secularization of 1803, the community belongs to Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. Denklingen was managed from 1803 by Buchloe and belonged in 1862 to the district office Kaufbeuren. In 1888 Denklingen with the opening of Fox Valley Railway from Landsberg to Schongau its own train station. In 1984, the connection to the railway network lost again with the setting of the passenger traffic on the route. From 1917 to 1973 there were in Denklingen a forestry office. In 1972, the community came to the district of Landsberg am Lech and moved from Swabia to Upper Bavaria.

When the district Epfach was already in Roman times the settlement Abodiacum.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the formerly independent municipalities Tue Hausen and Epfach were incorporated. Both places are clearly separated spatially as in the community life of Denklingen and also have historically completely different backgrounds.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 1.842, 1987, 1979, 2011 counted 2,548 inhabitants in 2000 and 2,324 a year.

Coat of arms

Coat Description: red with a silver on silver Christmas Three mountain.

Coat of Arms History: The linkshin flipped Christmas ( falcon) is the ancestral coat of arms of local noble lords of Denklingen that were invested in 1186 by the Bishop of Augsburg with goods in Denklingen and are detectable to the 14th century in the town. They built a castle on the Vogelherdhöhle and later moved to be citizens of feet. The falcon on the three mountain is preserved in the personal coat of arms of Ulrich von Denklingen, who was from 1336 to 1347 abbot of the monastery of St. Mang in Füssen. St. Mang practiced the basic rule of many properties in the municipality. The three mountain points to the location of the village in the hilly foothills of the Alps. The white and red colors refer to the detectable already in the late 12th century belonging to the Bishopric of Augsburg.

Denklingen belongs to ostschwäbischen speaking countries with already slight Bavarian influences.

Economy

The largest local employer is the deer Umformtechnik GmbH, the parent plant the deer Automotive Group.

Visible from far away are the two wind turbines, which have given a certain prominence since 2002 the village.

The company Taxer GmbH has moved its headquarters from Munich to 2007 Denklingen. The waste management company is since 1951 active in the metals and scrap trading and has (formerly Mill Road 10) established in the former gravel pit at the Dr.Manfred Hart Vogel-Straße 10.
