Dennis Haysbert

Dennis Dexter Haysbert ( born June 2, 1954 in San Mateo, California) is an American actor.

Work

His film career started after his acting studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts with the series Lou Grant. After that, he played mainly in the theater and in smaller television productions. In 1997, he got a major role in Absolute Power Clint Eastwood as one of the Secret Service agents on the side of Gene Hackman.

In 1999, he played Dr. Theodore Morris in the short-lived science fiction series Future Man and 2001 he took over the role of U.S. President David Palmer in the action series 24, for which he the 2002 Screen Actors Guild Award as part of the best actresses ensembles for the first season of 24 received.

From 2006 to 2008 he starred in the series The Unit - A question of honor with. In Goodbye Bafana 2007 he took over the role of Nelson Mandela in the Inhaftierungszeit, alongside Diane Kruger and Joseph Fiennes. He had a supporting role in the spy thriller Breach - betrayal at the highest level with Ryan Phillippe.

2014 he is in the sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill for playing the role of Manute. In the first part it was still played by the 2012 late actor Michael Clarke Duncan.
