Deportivo Cuenca

The Club Deportivo Cuenca is a sports club from the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. It was founded in 1971. The first football team plays in the Serie A, the first Ecuadorian league. It was founded in 2004 for the first time Ecuadorian master and so far a total of five times runner-up.

Deportivo Cuenca plays its home games at the Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar stadium, which was built in 1945 and was rebuilt in 1971 to the founding of the Association and was named after the former mayor and president of the association Alejandro Serrano Aguilar.

In the seventies, the club celebrated its first successes, twice was runner-up and took part in the Copa Libertadores in 1976 and 1977, without there but to be able to survive the group stage. In ongoing success of the club had to wait until 2004. Deportivo Cuenca was as only the second club that is not native to Quito or Guayaquil, the Ecuadorian master. Since the championship in 2004, the club plays regularly with the top courses and has been three times runner-up. With all the success in the domestic league and several participations were accompanied at the Copa Libertadores. In the 2009 Cuenca was able to move for the first time in the second round.
