Dharan (Hindi: धरान Dharān ) is the third largest city ( Nepali: Nagarpalika, English: municipality ) in eastern Nepal (District Sunsari ) with an area of ​​12.23 km ² and 116 181 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) on the edge of the plains of Terai at the foot of the Himalayas at an altitude of 132-562 m.
