Dimitri Ashkenazy

Dimitri Ashkenazy ( born October 8, 1969 in New York, NY) is a living in Switzerland clarinetist.

In 1978 he moved with his parents from his native Iceland to Switzerland, where he has lived ever since. Since 1991 he gave concerts all over the world, among others in the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, at the Sydney Opera House in London's Royal Festival Hall, the Salzburg Festival, the Rudolfinum in Prague and at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. He works with well-known orchestras as the Deutsches Symphonie -Orchester Berlin, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and with renowned artists such as Peter Maxwell Davies, Krzysztof Penderecki, Edita Gruber, Barbara Bonney and Bernd Glemser.

Ashkenazy has premiered two clarinet concertos: 1994 Concerto for Orchestra Clarinetto e "Piano Americano " of the Milanese composer Marco Tutino at Teatro alla Scala and 1997 " Passages " for clarinet and orchestra by Filippo del Corno.

Dimitri Ashkenazy is the son of pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy.
