Dingalan, Aurora

Thing Alan is a Philippine municipality in the province of Aurora.

Geography

Thing Alan is about 183 kilometers northwest of Manila in the Sierra Madre Mountains on the Pacific Ocean. In Alan thing there are some caves, of which the Lamao Cave is the best known.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by San Luis in Aurora Province, on the west by Gabaldon and General Tinio in the province of Nueva Ecija and Doña Remedios Trinidad in the province of Bulacan, to the south by General Nakar in Quezon province and in the east to the Pacific Ocean.

Outline of the municipality

South of the main town are the barangays Aplaya, Cabog, Matawe, Ibona and Umiray. The first Baranggay north of the main town is Paltic. All barangays are a coastal barangays with the exception of one, which is in the mountains. The entire municipality is mountainous. The river forms the border with the province Umiray Quezon.

History

Thing Alan was an independent municipality in 1962. The tropical storms Violeta, Winnie and Yoyong from 30 November to 3 December 2004 caused severe damage and many deaths. The municipality benefited from the relief efforts by some Christian groups, from La Salle Green Hills and the Philippine Red Cross.
