Dingazi

Region

Dingazi is a rural municipality in the department of Ouallam in Niger.

Geography

Dingazi lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Banibangou in the north, Filingue in the northeast, Tondikandia the southeast, Ouallam and Simiri in the southwest and Tondikiwindi in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 41 administrative villages, six traditional villages, 93 hamlets and 13 stock. The main town of the rural community is Dingazi consisting of the administrative villages Dingazi Banda and Dingazi Laba.

History

In 2002, was disbanded as part of a nationwide administrative reform of the Canton Ouallam and divided the territory of the municipality Ouallam and the newly created rural community Dingazi.

Population

At the 2001 census Dingazi had 36 933 inhabitants. For the year 2010 48.871 inhabitants were calculated.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is located at the junction of the zone of Agropastoralismus of the North to the zone of rain -fed agriculture of the South. Of economic importance for the population, labor migration is abroad.
