Simiri

Simiri is a rural municipality in the department of Ouallam in Niger.
Geography
Simiri located in the southern Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Ouallam in the north, Dingazi in the northeast, Tondikandia in the east, in the southeast Tagazar, Hamdallaye in the south, Karma in the South West and Kourteye in the West. The municipality is divided into 73 administrative villages, twelve traditional villages, 379 hamlets and twelve stock. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Simiri.
History
Simiri was dominated in the 19th century by Kallé - leaders. Kallé are a subset of the Zarma. The rural community Simiri was founded in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Simiri forth. 2008 floods 57 houses were destroyed and damaged 165 inhabitants.
Population
At the 2001 census Simiri had 76 783 inhabitants. For the year 2010 101.627 inhabitants were calculated.
Economy and infrastructure
The municipality is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. Of economic importance is also the labor migration abroad. By Simiri the National Road 24, which connects the village with the Nigerien capital Niamey and the border with Mali at Banibangou runs.
