Dirty Dancing is an American television series that was produced by Vestron Television 1988-1989. It is an adaptation of the musical film Dirty Dancing in 1987.
Content
The 17 -year-old Frances Kellerman, which is called by her friends 'baby', is the daughter of Max Kellerman, the owner of the summer resort Kellerman's. There she earned, along with the dance instructor Johnny Castle, their money. Frances falls in love with Johnny, as he gives her dance lessons in Dirty Dancing.
Soundtrack
In the introduction a short version of the title ( I've had ) the time of my life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes used. Mostly found in the series, as well as in the movie, music from the 1960s again.
Broadcast
The first broadcast was made in the USA from 29 October 1988 to 14 January 1989. For the first time on German television series in the second program of the GDR television was on display from September 1 to December 1989 within the youth magazine Elf 99. In the Federal Republic, it has been shown RTLplus December 23, 1989 to February 17, 1990 for the first time. Repetitions were performed in the ARD regional program of the DFF from December 1990 to March 1991, the ORB in 1992 and the MDR in 1994.
In addition, the series was released in the UK at Vestron Video International in 1990 on videocassette.
