Disco Ensemble

Disco Ensemble is a post-hardcore band from the Finnish city of Ulvila, which is also associated with punk rock and indie rock.

Band History

The band was founded in the late 1990s by Jussi Ylikoski and Mikko Hakila under the name Disco. Later they extended their name because equality with the Finnish pop duo Disco. Since 2000, Koivisto is the lead singer. The debut album was released in 2003 and contained Viper Ethics with videotapes already a Finnish Top 20 chart single. Both the second album First Aid Kit (2005) and the two coupled- Singles We Might Fall Apart and Black Euro reached the Finnish Top Ten. The piece Black Euro has found as an intro song for the PC console game "Moto GP 08" by Capcom use.

In addition to regular concerts in Scandinavia, the band toured repeatedly throughout Europe, especially Germany, Switzerland and the UK. In the summer of 2006 Disco Ensemble play on several European open-air festivals (such as Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany, Nova Rock in Austria, Hultsfredfestival in Sweden, Roskilde Festival in Denmark, OpenAir St. Gallen in Switzerland ). In autumn 2006, a European tour was held together with Gogol Bordello and Danko Jones, who led by seven countries. In December, they still toured as the opening act for Madsen by Germany. Furthermore, they appeared in January 2008 as the opening act at concerts in Germany for Linkin Park. This year they have also been with the Donots on tour.

On 9 May 2008 the third studio album by the band that bears the name Magic Recoveries appeared. The singles were Bad Luck Charm and headphones to each of which also appeared a video.

In May 2009, the EP Back on the MF Street appeared. They included not only four on the album Magic Recoveries unused recordings ( Back on the MF street, Golden Years, The Alps and Abandoned ), two remixes of the single from the album Bad Luck Charm. The song Golden Years was used on the PC console game " NHL 10 " as part of the soundtrack.

On 24 February 2010 the first single White Flag for Peace was published in the yet unnamed new album. The second single Protector was offered as a free download. The album 'The Iceland of Disco Ensemble appeared on May 26, 2010 by Fullsteam Records. The band presented it later in the year on a European tour.

Early 2012 announced Disco Ensemble their new album for the fall to, on August 22, the first single Second Soul was released, the associated album Warriors on September 21.

The soundtrack for the German film comedy Kokowääh 2 from the year 2013 and with Til Schweiger comes from the band. In 12 concerts the band a guest in August / September 2013 in Germany.
