Church of Saint Nicholas in Dittingen

Dittingen is a municipality in the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located in a northern tributary Dittingen Laufen on the southern slope of the blue chain. In the northeast, the municipality borders on the Birs.

History

In 1300 the city was first mentioned in a document. 1435 was the name written " Tittingen ". From 1462 the town was owned by the Bishop of Basel. On the occasion of the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Dittingen into the canton of Bern. 1994 he moved to Canton Basel- Country. The Church of St. Niklaus contains a series of stained glass windows by Hans Stocker.

The coat of arms depicts St. Wendelin in black frock, with gold floor and gold bag on green field. Left and right in the background there are two green deciduous trees. The background color is white.
