Blue (Basel German: Blue ) is a municipality in the district of Laufen in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality Blue lies on a terrace on the southern slope of the hill chain Blue ( 837m ). Neighboring municipalities are Dittingen, clamps, Nenzlingen, Pfeffingen BL, Ettingen and the two communities Solothurn Hofstetten- Flueh and Metz alders. The municipal area is 713 hectares large, of which 34% agricultural land, 60 % forests and 6% settlements.

Coat of arms

A golden shield with a black cross bar and over a black five -pointed star is the symbol of the Lords of Rotberg. The star came later.

History

Even in Roman times there was a road that connected the Birstal via leaf Pass near the present village with Basel. As Blakwan the village was first mentioned in 1147. 1408 were the masters of Rotberg and Ramstein owner of the place. 1462 Blue came as part of the Bailiwick of clamps under the rule of the Prince-Bishop of Basel. 1490 Blue came into the castle right in Solothurn in 1525 came the village to the castle right in the city of Basel. 1792-93 was part of the Blue Raurakische Republic, from 1793, saw the French as squatters and 1815 it has been federally by decision of the Vienna Congress and added to the canton of Bern.
