Pfeffingen (Basel German: Pfäffige ) is a municipality in the district of Arlesheim in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.
Geography
Pfeffingen located at the southernmost end of the Birseck on the northern slope of the Blue to 392 m asl The neighboring municipalities are Aesch, Ettingen, Blue, Nenzlingen, Grellingen and Duggingen. The area of the municipality is 489 hectares, of which 52% forest, 33 % agricultural land, 14 % settlements and 1% non-productive area.
Coat of arms
Silver background, blue horizontal bar with attached half lily. This is the coat of arms of the noble servants cons, which administrated the Pfeffingen in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Population
42 % of the population are Roman Catholic, reformed 31%. The proportion of foreigners is 9.7 %.
Policy
Community president is Maya - Greuter Völkle (as of 2012).
Traffic
The village is connected by means of the BLT with the number 65 bus turning loop of tram line 11 in Aesch and the Dornach - Arlesheim on the S-Bahn line 3 and the tram line 10.
