Muttenz (Basel German: Muttez, [ mʊtəts ] ) is a municipality in the district of Arlesheim in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Muttenz is located east of the city of Basel, between the Rhine in the north and the south and the Gempen Wartenberg and its ruins to the east. Muttenz is an industrial town ( about 14,000 jobs) and divides the large industrial area Swiss hall with communities Birsfelden and Pratteln. Coat of arms

The heraldic artist was Adolf Müller, the lion of Catherine Lowenberg (wife of Konrad Muench, Muttenz which ruled from 1324 to 1378 ). History

Education

Muttenz is a location of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland with the areas of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics, life sciences, and technology.
