Dniprodzerzhynsk Reservoir

The Dniprodserschynsker Reservoir (Ukrainian Дніпродзержинське водосховище; Russian Днепродзержинское водохранилище ) is one of the six major Ukrainian Dneprstauseen.

At the reservoir boundaries, the Ukrainian oblasts Kirovohrad, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk.

The reservoir covers 567 km ² Dniprodserschynsker area and covers about 2.45 km ³ of water. The length is 114 km with a maximum width of 8 km. At the deepest point, the water has a depth of 16 m.

The shut-off is a combination of a dam and a gravity dam. Their total length is more than 35 km, making it one of the longest dams of the earth.

The dam of the lake is located west of the city Dniprodserschynsk, which is part of the Dnipropetrovsk conurbation. Here there is a large hydroelectric plant. Was built the dam in 1964.

During the damming of the lake many residents had to be relocated. Most people respect apartments in new, planned on the banks of the dammed lake built by the Soviet state settlements.

In the reservoir, the river Vorskla opens. Major cities on Dniprodserschynsker reservoir are the cities of Komsomolsk and Werchnjodniprowsk.
