Dolný Hričov

Dolny Hričov (Hungarian Alsóricsó - to 1907 Alsóhricsó ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 1551 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) in Okres Žilina, a circle of Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley Bytčianska kotlina on a corridor terrace of the Waag, between the mountains Súľovské Hills on the left bank and Javorníky on the right bank. The center is located at an altitude of 316 m nm and is seven kilometers from Bytča, and 12 km from Zilina away.

The municipality is divided into parts of municipalities Dolny Hričov and Peklina (1992 amalgamated ).

History

The village was mentioned in documents for the first time in 1208 as Rizoi, yet together with the neighboring village of Horny Hričov. In 1282 he is mentioned as inferior Herichou and is part of the demesne of the nearby castle Hričov, later to those of Bytča. There was an estate and to the end of the 16th century a toll booth.

1828 are listed 70 houses and 637 inhabitants. 1921 was a major part of the town destroyed by fire.

Attractions

• Roman Catholic St. Michael's Church from the 14th century, in the mixed Romanesque- Gothic style
• Countryside chateau in 1556, formerly a toll, now the seat of a cultural institution

Infrastructure

The basic infrastructure of the town is well developed. The village has a primary school with nursery school, a library and a cultural center. The municipal area is the Žilina Airport. Furthermore, there is a stop on the railway line Bratislava - Žilina. By road the place on the highway is to reach 18 or even over the D3 motorway; in the future a motorway junction of highways to be built D1 and D3 here.
