Dominick McCaffrey

Dominick McCaffrey (* September 24, 1863 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, † December 30, 1926 ) was an American boxer, the often competing against larger and heavier fighters.

On August 29, 1885, he entered into a fight, according to the new Queensberry Rules, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the title of world champion in the heavyweight division against John L. Sullivan and lost, after a fight over 7 rounds.

Through this fight Sullivan was first recognized boxing world heavyweight champion.

On 31 January 1888 he boxed against Jack Dempsey in Jersey City, but also lost after 10 rounds.

On April 14, 1890, he fought against Jim Corbett in New York and lost after 4 rounds.
