Don Alvarado

Don Alvarado, José actually Paige, (* November 4, 1904 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, † March 31, 1967 in Hollywood, California ) was a Mexican- American actor, assistant director and production manager.

Life

The Mexican -born Don Alvarado came to Hollywood in 1922 to find work in the film industry with the goal. He made friends there with the also Mexican -born actor Gilbert Roland, and together they began their film career. 1924 Alvarado married the Russian- Jewish emigrants daughter Ann Boyar. In the same year their daughter Joy Page was born, who also became an actress and later successfully contributed in Casablanca. However, Alvarado's wife left him and married the film producer Jack L. Warner.

In 1924 Alvarado made ​​his first film appearance. He was occupied primarily as a Latin lover in various supporting roles. With the beginning of the sound film his performances were smaller. For Warner Bros. he worked as an assistant director and production manager. As a production manager, he has been involved in hits such as The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, East of Eden and The Old Man and the Sea.

Don Alvarado died in 1967 from cancer.
