Don Stroud

Donald Lee Stroud ( born September 1, 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii ) is an American actor.

Life

Stroud grew up as the son of vaudeville artist Clarence Stroud. In his youth he devoted himself to surfing. At the booth of Waikiki he was discovered by actor Troy Donahue, who hired him as his stunt double. Stroud then moved to Hollywood to become an actor. Shortly after, he had the devil of the Western Texas his feature film debut opposite Doris Day, Peter Graves and George Kennedy. The following year he starred with Richard Widmark and Henry Fonda in only 72 hours. In the same year he had his first major film role as an antagonist of Clint Eastwood in Coogan's big bluff. In 1971, he played Arthur Roy Brown, an opponent of Manfred von Richthofen in Roger Corman's Manfred von Richthofen - The Red Baron, in the following year he was in Sinola a second time an opponent by Clint Eastwood. In 1973, he was naked in the November issue of the magazine Playgirl to see. His most well- running film career came to a halt, and he played in the episode in B-movies such as the blaxploitation film The Son of Mandingo with Jim Brown in the lead role. In later years he was only sporadically seen in film productions, worth mentioning his role as Father Bolen in the horror movie Amityville Horror, as well as his contribution to James Bond 007 - Licence to Kill.

Since the mid- 1960s Stroud was also active as a television actor and has guest starred on such series as The Men from Shiloh Ranch and The Chief. With the slackening of his film career, he was increasingly seen on television. 1979 to 1980, he starred as Sergeant Mike Varrick in the television series Columbo besides Mrs. Kate Mulgrew in the title role, the series was, however, discontinued after 13 episodes. Between 1984 and 1987 he exhibited in the crime series Mike Hammer in four seasons, the figure of Captain Pat Chambers dar. From the mid- 1960s to the late 1990s Stroud was a guest star in many successful series formats, then it was quiet around him. Most recently, he appeared in 2011 in an episode of Hawaii Five-0 in an episode supporting role on.
