Donald L. Ritter

Donald Lawrence Ritter ( born October 21, 1940 in New York City ) is an American politician. Between 1979 and 1993 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Donald Ritter attended the common schools and then studied until 1961 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. This was followed up in 1966 to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was from 1961 to 1968 and a research assistant. In the years 1967 and 1968 he was an exchange student at Baikov Institute in Moscow. He then taught at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. At the same time he was an advisor to the company General Dynamics. From 1969 to 1976 he taught the subject metallurgy at Lehigh University. He was then to 1978 Manager of the research program of this University. He also acted as advisor to several industrial companies.

Politically Knight was a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1978 he was in the 15th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Fred B. Rooney on January 3, 1979. After six re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1993 seven legislative sessions. There he was at times a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce and the Committee on Science and Technology. He sat down worldwide for human rights and condemned the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Knight was considered a conservative MP. In 1992 he was not re-elected.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Donald Knight founded the National Environmental Policy Institute, which he directed until 2002. In 1996 he founded the Afghanistan Foundation. There was and he is also engaged economically. After the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001, he spent a lot of time in Afghanistan. Today he lives in Coopersburg. From his previous marriage he has two adult children.
