Doncaster (Victoria)

Doncaster is a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria in Australia.

The first settlers, mostly German, arrived in 1841, built in 1858 and 1860 the Protestant church a Protestant school. The Germans called their settlement first "Waldau ", but soon the name Doncaster sat through - allegedly after John Robert Wilson from Doncaster (Yorkshire ) had its " Doncaster Arms Inn " opened. Doncaster maintains a partnership with the same English town of Doncaster.

First one built in Doncaster vegetables and orchids, but later the fruit growing is profitable. In the year 1911 1.158 people lived in the village.

The former home of the first Lutheran, originating in Germany, Pastor Max von Schramm is now part of the Rieschiecks - reserve and seat of Doncaster Templestowe Historical Society.
