Dong Biwu

Dǒng Bìwǔ (Chinese董必武, W.-G. Tung Pi -wu, born March 5, 1886 in Huanggang, Hubei Province, † April 2, 1975 in Beijing) was a Chinese communist political leader during the regime of Mao Zedong. In the 1940s he was in Yan'an, together with Wu Yuzhang, Lin Boqu, Xu Teli and Xie Juezai " the five senior officers " (延安 五 老, Yanan Wǔ Lǎo ) called. He was from 1948 to 1949 and from 1972 until his death, Chinese President (Chairman of the Executive Committee ). He was also from 1968 to 1972 deputy together with Song Qingling Chairman of the Committee.
