Donna is a city in Hidalgo County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.
Geography
The city is located on U.S. Highway 83 in the south east of the county, in south Texas, about 15 km from Mexico is to the east about 80 km from the Gulf of Mexico, to the south away.
History
The city was founded in July 1904 as the railroad depot, as the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico Railway moved its tracks here. It was named after Donna Fletcher, the director of the post office, which opened in 1908.

According to the census of 2000, there were 14,768 people in 4,167 households and 3,525 families. The population density was 1131.3 people per km ². The racial the population was composed of 76.06 % White, 0.37 % African American, 0.60 % Native American, 0.18 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 20.40% from other ethnic groups. Approximately 2.40% were of mixed descent, and 87.26 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
