Dorin " Mateo " Mateut (* August 5, 1965 in Bogata - Curtuiuş, Cluj County ) is a former Romanian football player. In 1989 Mateut won the Golden Shoe as top scorer in Europe. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1990.

Career as a player

Dorin Mateut began his career in 1978 with CS Hunedoara and moved to the youth of Corvinul Hunedoara two years later. On 14 October 1981 he was at the game against FC Olt Scorniceşti at the age of 16 years, made ​​his debut in the first team in the highest Romanian football league. In the 1982/83 season at Corvinul he managed to jump to the key players and the club the way into the second round of the UEFA Cup. In order to give his career a further boost, Mateut moved during the winter break 1986/87 to Dinamo Bucharest. There were the years 1989 and 1990, the most successful of his career. In the 1988/89 season was Mateut with 43 ​​-goal top scorer Divizia A and at the same time winner of the Golden Boot for most goals in Europe. In the following season Mateut Dinamo won with the Romanian Championship and the Romanian Cup and thus ended the winning streak of Steaua Bucharest. In the same season he reached the semifinals in the European Cup Winners' Cup.

After the FIFA World Cup 1990 Mateut changed in September 1990 - as many Romanian national team before - abroad. After an initially agreed transfer to FC Barcelona did not materialize, he joined for a fee of U.S. $ 600,000 Real Zaragoza of the Spanish Primera División on. After varying success Mateut was hardly taken into account in Saragossa at the beginning of the 1992/93 season, so he decided during the winter break to a change in the Italian Serie A Brescia Calcio. National

In 1983 Mateut took part in the U-18 Football Championship in England with Romania.
