Dorothea Jordan, born as Dorothea Bland ( born November 21, 1761 Waterford, † July 5, 1816 in Saint- Cloud) was an Irish actress and the longstanding mistress of the British King William IV

Life

Dorothy was the daughter of Francis Bland and his wife Grace Phillips. She came to London as an actress and took the stage name Mrs. Jordan. With her beauty and cleverness she enchanted 1790 the Duke of Clarence and later King William IV of the United Kingdom. From the Liaison ten children were born, the family got the name FitzClarence:

Dorothy Jordan died on 5 July 1816 in Saint-Cloud near Paris in poverty.
