Double (Band)

Double was a Swiss pop duo, founded in 1983. The biggest hit was The Captain of Her Heart from the year 1985.

Band History

1976 Kurt Maloo was involved in the formation of the band Troppo. In 1978 he released the solo maxi single Giant Lady. Felix Haug 1976-1979 Member of the Lipschitz Orchestra, but also worked for Yello. Both were formed in 1981, together with a bass player, the trio 'Ping Pong '. According to several European festival appearances was the trio a duo with the name ' Double'.

In 1983 the first maxi-single from ' Double', Naningo. The result Singles Rangoon Moon and Woman of the World were, as well as the subsequent Hit The Captain of Her Heart, included on the 1985 album Blue, which was released in over 50 countries. The success of their first hit single could not repeat the Swiss.

In 1987, ' Double' Album Dou3le one. It involved, among others, trumpeter Herb Alpert and violinist Michael Urbaniak as a guest musician.

In 1989, the band broke up and the two members realized solo projects. End of the 90s Maloo and Haug found in Can- Studio near Cologne back together and were planning new recordings on the 20th anniversary of ' Double', but Felix Haug died in 2004 unexpectedly of a heart attack.

Kurt Maloo produced several solo albums on various record labels out: Single (1990 ), Soul and Echo (1995 ) Loopy Avenue (2006) and Summer of Better Times (2010). For the 2006 album Maloo revised with Pit Baumgartner from De -Phazz old hits and previously unknown songs by Double, as well as new compositions.
