Dourbies

Dourbies is a commune with 180 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gard in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes de L' Aigoual.

Geography

Dourbies within 4.9 kilometers southeast of Treves and 6.2 kilometers southwest of Saint- Sauveur- Camprieu. It lies in the western part of the department, in the densely wooded Cevennes National Park south of the Forêt du Causse Noir Domaniale ( state forest of black limestone plateaus) and west of the Forêt de L' Domaniale Aigual, in the valley of Dourbie. The Trevezel, a tributary of the Dourbie, also flows in the municipal area. To Dourbies heard the hamlet Roucabie.

History

Taxing in Dourbies in 1435 can be calculated that it must have had six or seven households.

Economy

The image of the church is dominated by pastures, woods and chestnut groves. Major lines of business of Dourbiens are the reduction of quartz in Roucabie, forestry, agriculture and the breeding of domestic sheep.

Culture and sights

The Fontaine des trois Ermites ( Fountain of the Three Hermits ) was built in 1990. She takes on a legend respect. Because of this legend, it is in the surrounding communities custom of Pentecost belongs to the Rocher de Saint- Guiral, a rock to the municipality of Aumessas to make a pilgrimage.

The church of Notre Dame de l' Assomption ( Assumption into heaven ) was built in 1883-1887.

The lake Lac des Pises part of the Natural Park of the Cevennes.

The Gorges de la Dourbie are canyons Dourbie. The Dourbie rises at Mont Aigoual and runs along the Causse Noir and Causse du Larzac. The gorges are 380-850 meters high.
