Doyle Bramhall

Doyle Bramhall ( born February 17, 1949 in Dallas, Texas, † November 12, 2011 in Alpine, Texas) was an American blues-rock guitarist, singer and drummer.

Life

Doyle Bramhall grew up in Dallas, where he was a blues band called The Night Caps joined. His early influences include Ray Charles, Jimmy Reed and Bobby " Blue" Bland. In high school he joined the Chessmen, where he met Jimmie Vaughan. Bramhall also played in Vaughan's next band Storm, where he met Vaughan's little brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, with whom he in turn founded the Nightcrawlers. During this time, SRV and Bramhall wrote together Dirty pool, a song you can listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut album Texas Flood. Bramhall also wrote for many other albums of Vaughan's songs. Also on the album Family Style by Vaughan Brothers are three Bramhall songs. In addition, Bramhall plays drums on the album.

In the early 1980s Bramhall was the drummer for Marcia Ball and Mason Ruffner, and began for the first time to make solo recordings. His solo debut Bird Nest on the Ground should, however, only in 1994 come on the market. On the album, among others, also plays Doyle Bramhall II Bramhalls son of the Arc Angels. Before 2003 Bramhalls second album Fitchburg Street appeared, he worked with Jennifer Warnes.
