DR Class 83.10

The series was a 83.10 Neubaulok the Deutsche Reichsbahn and was put into service in 1955 and 1956. It was planned to use on branch lines, for which 60 km / h top speed and a driving wheel diameter of 1,250 mm were sufficient. Wheelset and first coupled axle were combined into a Krauss- Helmholtz bogie. The design of the series along with the series was 83.10 65.10. The locomotives were superheated steam regulator, mixing preheater, decentralized sand boxes and sheet metal frame. The machines were in the plane at a speed of 60 km / h, a load of 1,000 t carry.

After the delivery of the first locomotive in 1955, the machine was immediately tested in the VES -M Halle. In various tests, a number of shortcomings, however, could not be taken into account in the current series showed delivery. Some problems could be addressed in the context of various repair work. The series could never convince and was built because of the looming conversion to diesel operation only in 27 copies.

1974 were screened with the 83 1008, 1012, 1024 and 1025, the last machines. From the series 83.10 no copy has been preserved.
