Dražen Sermek

Dražen Sermek ( born January 30, 1969 in Osijek ) is a Croatian chess player. By March 2007, he played for the Slovenian Chess Federation.

Sermek won the Slovenian Chess Championship in 1993 and 1998 and was a member of the national team at the Chess Olympiads in 1994, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006.

In 2001 he became principal at Pula Open. In 2002 he won the New White Plus GM competition in Dhaka and ended along with Mladen Palac, Zdenko Kožul, Vladimir and Ognjen Burmakin Cvitan at the Casino HIT NG Open in Nova Gorica in the squares 1-5. In 2008 he gained along with Marat Dzhumaev, Darwin Laylo, Susanto Megaranto and Ashot Nadanjan 3rd - 7th Place at the 5th Dato ' Arthur Tan Malaysia Open Championship in Kuala Lumpur and was the first MCF GM Tournament, which was held in Kuala Lumpur.

In 1990 he became an International Master, since 1994 he is the Grand Master. His previous highest Elo rating was 2603 in July 2002.

In the Austrian Bundesliga on top board he plays the SK Mayrhofen / Zillertal.
