The Dreiherrenspitze (Italian: Picco dei Tre Signori ) is a 3499 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the western Tauern main ridge. It is located in the Hohe Tauern, a part of the Central Alps, exactly on the existing since 1919 border between the Italian province of South Tyrol and the Austrian provinces of Tyrol and Salzburg. In the 16th century it was also Dreyerherrenspitz, until 1873 known as Three countries, because at this point the dominions of the Counts of Tyrol and Gorizia, and the bishops of Salzburg abutted each other. At the Dreiherrenspitze branches off to the southwest from the Roßhufkamm. It has a main peak Eastern and a Western summit 3418 meters above sea level. About two survey points runs on they approached the border. To the northeast of the mountain has a large geographical dominance, which is given by its partially frozen, 450 meters high and over 60 ° inclined northeast wall. Was first climbed the peak, questionable claims to 1861 as part of the national survey by the brothers Berger from Prägraten. Location

The mountain is surrounded on all sides by glaciers. To the north, at the foot of the north-east wall, the split -rich and highly indented by ice falls Krimml Kees extends. In the east and south lies the finally reaching to a height of 3400 meters Umbalkees, in the west to the summit region up outstanding Breitlahner Kees. Adjacent Mountains are in the course of the pronounced Ostgrats the 600 meters Umbalköpfl with 3426 m height and a further 1,000 meters east of the 3481 m high Western Simonyspitze, which is named after the Austrian Alps researchers and geographers Friedrich Simony. Bases and Ascension

Since the Dreiherrenspitze all neighboring mountains clearly dominates because of its height, it was in the second half of the 19th century, a popular vantage point for tourists. The path of the first Steiger led over the only slightly inclined and therefore easy to walk back from the South West main direction. Base in the 1860s was a primitive hut decorated on the top Umbaltal. Since 1872, the Clara hut is on 2036 m height, are made from which to this day tours to the Dreiherrenspitze.
