DRG Class 87

The class 87 was a unit freight tank locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. The steam locomotive was specially developed for use in the Port of Hamburg by the company Orenstein & Koppel. There was minimal curve radius of 100 meters and high tensile loads to move. The axle load could be a maximum of 17.5 t. From the requirements, the count of five axles revealed. To keep the wear of the drive within reasonable limits, only the middle three wheelsets were connected by coupling rods, while the end axles of the type Luttermöller were driven by gears.

After damage some vehicles were also used as 1'D, D1 ' or 1'C1 '.

As of 1951, the series locomotives were replaced by 87 -series vehicles 82.
