Družec

Družec ( German Druschetz ) is a municipality in Okres Kladno, Central Bohemia. It lies about 7 km southwest of Kladno and about 30 km west of Prague at the main road 6, running through the northern part of the municipality. Družec is 375 - 400 m above sea level at the river Loděnice.

Geography

East of the church rises the 429 m high mountain Veselov, where there is also a small nature reserve is located in the rare and protected plants to grow for the meadows Pasque. The municipality covers 7.12 km ². There are 827 inhabitants. The zip code is 273 62

History

The oldest mention of Družec dates from the year 1320, the parish was first mentioned in 1352. The most important cultural monument of the village is the pilgrimage church of the Assumption, the, original gothic, dates from the first half of the 14th century. Around the year 1690 it was rebuilt in Baroque style and expanded. Also noteworthy is a 1674 built sandstone statue of the Virgin Mary, a work of Jiří Gran from Doksy. The largest pilgrimage takes place after July 2 always on Sunday. Near the church, the cemetery wall, there is a 180 cm high and 56 cm wide prehistoric menhir of sandstone, the " Zkamenělec " is called. To him is shrouded in various folk tales, after which it should be petrified sinners, blasphemers or perjured.
