The mountain is a Duinger to 331 m above sea level. NN high ridge of Lower Saxony highlands in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Duinger mountain is located in the western part of the line mountain country, a northern part of Lower Saxony's mountain country. With its main dome, the Babenstein, it extends to about 7.5 km in length in the triangle of the towns Eime, Alfeld and Duingen. It lies between Deinsen and Lübbrechtsen in the north, Rott, Hoyershausen and Lütge Durchholzen in the east, in the southeast Brunkensen, Coppengrave in the south, Duingen in the southwest and Weenzen and Marie Hagen in the northwest.

The main peak of the mountain is the Duinger Babenstein (331 m above sea level. NN ), a little further southeast is the Kikedal (319 m above sea level. NN ).

Northwest of the Duinger mountain extends the Thüster Mountain, east of the Külf, southeast of Reuberg and west of Ith, which is one part of the natural park Weser mountain country Schaumburg -Hameln. The Valley of Glene, a southwestern tributary of the leash, gradually merges with the Reuberg.

Northwest leads the B 240 and a little east on the B 3 Duinger mountain pass.

Geology and landscape

The Duinger mountain is an unfolding of Thüster limestone. Are located on the steep northeast flank is usually hidden in the forest, several limestone cliffs, such as near the village there Rott am Babenstein Rotter cliffs and also there are those in the southeast at the output of the Wolf's Glen. In the north- western part of the ridge there are abandoned limestone quarries.

The Duinger mountain is densely covered in particular by deciduous forest.

Hiking

Numerous forest roads lead over the Duinger Mountain, among others can be found on a hiking trail over the crest of the ridge of Marie Hagen to Brunkensen run.
