Duke of Aarschot

Duke of Aarschot (French: Duc d' Aarschot, also written Arschot and Aerschot and based on the then Dutch and Belgian community today Aarschot ), a title of nobility, the Emperor Charles V., after the creation of the title of Marquis of Aarschot ( is French Marquis d' Aarschot ), in the April 1, 1534 awarded in November 1519 Guillaume II de Croy to his nephew, Philippe II de Croy. Since both happened as the King of Spain, in his capacity, it is not with them to the title of the Holy Roman Empire.

With the death of Charles III. de Croy in 1612 and his sister Anne de Croy in 1635 was the title over to the branch Ligne the House of Arenberg. The current title holder is Léopold of Arenberg, 13th Duke of Arenberg and 19th duke of Aarschot.
