Dumitru Antonescu

Dumitru Antonescu ( born March 25, 1945 in Constanţa ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. The defender played 390 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A.

Career

The son of a cone athlete spent his childhood in his hometown of Constanta. After his youth in Electrica Constanta he graduated from 1965 to 1966 his military service in the capital Bucharest. There he was a member of the squad for the second team of Steaua Bucharest and was not in the first team to use. In 1966 he returned to Constanţa back to Electrica and joined on 10 January 1967 Farul Constanta, which at the time the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A belonged. On February 15, 1967, he arrived there under coach Virgil Mărdărescu to its first use.

Antonescu played his entire career for Farul which he accompanied in the Divizia B after relegation at the end of the season 1977/78. After the re-emergence in 1981, he remains the club for another two years to receive, before he ended his career after the renewed decline at the end of the 1982/83 season. He then spent two years as the training of the team, to then become a coach at a club from the district Calarasi. To supplement his pension, Antonescu in 2013 worked as a youth coach at Farul Constanta.

National

Antonescu played 13 games for the Romanian national football team, but scoring no hits. He had his debut on 29 October 1972 at the World Cup qualifier against Albania. The last time he ran on 13 October 1974 at the European Championship qualifier against Denmark on the national team.
